3/9/08: UPDATE!

The Lord is our Provider! Jehovah Jireh!

Events worked in a way that Tonia was able to join the worship team. Now we’re a team (not just me and my keyboard)! It’s so much nicer! I enjoyed harmonizing on “In Christ Alone.” She will join me again for Easter as will Dave who is a baritone (perfectly complimenting my low alto voice). I imagine they will both join me as regulars. WOW!

We had a great rehearsal and dinner for Easter at the pastor’s house last night and I am so thankful to the Lord for bringing in the worshippers!

Side Note: The Physical Hazards of Worship

Last Sunday, while putting the boom stand away, it pinched my left middle finger. YIKES. Last night at our outreach I was setting up and my keyboard stand came crashing down (I have no idea how) onto the top of my right (pedal) foot. Needless to say, by the time I got home last night I couldn’t walk. Hoping I will be able to use it fine for tomorrow’s church service.

Side Note: The Emotional Hazards of Worship

I’ve lead worship for about 12 years now and much of them with children and/or mixed crowds like we have at the Valencia. I’m pretty used to kids interrupting and blurting out things, even adults. One time a lady raised her hand during a testimonial time and said she couldn’t sit anymore because she had hemorrhoids. That was about six months ago. I told her she could stand. I didn’t know what else to say???

Today after the last song “Were You There?” someone said I sang it too bouncy (fast) and it should be slowed down. Yikes! I didn’t know what to say. It was dead quiet! So I just smiled and said “Why don’t you all stand and greet someone today .” I went down to play mandolin for the kids and just laughed and laughed. What else can you do?
