3/9/08: UPDATE!
The Lord is our Provider! Jehovah Jireh!
Events worked in a way that Tonia was able to join the worship team. Now we’re a team (not just me and my keyboard)! It’s so much nicer! I enjoyed harmonizing on “In Christ Alone.” She will join me again for Easter as will Dave who is a baritone (perfectly complimenting my low alto voice). I imagine they will both join me as regulars. WOW!
We had a great rehearsal and dinner for Easter at the pastor’s house last night and I am so thankful to the Lord for bringing in the worshippers!

Side Note: The Physical Hazards of Worship
Last Sunday, while putting the boom stand away, it pinched my left middle finger. YIKES. Last night at our outreach I was setting up and my keyboard stand came crashing down (I have no idea how) onto the top of my right (pedal) foot. Needless to say, by the time I got home last night I couldn’t walk. Hoping I will be able to use it fine for tomorrow’s church service.

Side Note: The Emotional Hazards of Worship
I’ve lead worship for about 12 years now and much of them with children and/or mixed crowds like we have at the Valencia. I’m pretty used to kids interrupting and blurting out things, even adults. One time a lady raised her hand during a testimonial time and said she couldn’t sit anymore because she had hemorrhoids. That was about six months ago. I told her she could stand. I didn’t know what else to say???
Today after the last song “Were You There?” someone said I sang it too bouncy (fast) and it should be slowed down. Yikes! I didn’t know what to say. It was dead quiet! So I just smiled and said “Why don’t you all stand and greet someone today .” I went down to play mandolin for the kids and just laughed and laughed. What else can you do?

I have read some of your post and then I decided to read the rest of your blog, and im telling you. If I had to put up with all the critisism you do, I would go crawl in the corner in a fetal position somewhere. I am also a “girl worship leader”. Im sure there are several people in my church that would just love to give their opinion but for some reason, no one does. Prolly cuz i just do what my pastor and my team decide to do and block all the other crap that comes from the “crowd”.(that came off kinda harsh) how many people are in your congregation?

Par for the course. Everyone has opinions. Our job is to gird ourselves, get on the floor, and serve them.
