a cardboard box–who left this here?
several markings on the side
names and places
no one knows or cares about
packing tape dangling in the wind
an old moving box–waiting to be put into the trash
laying on the side of the road
discarded, unwanted, in the way
a cardboard box–
does anyone want this box?
the contents now gone
its purpose fulfilled
do you think it can hold another load?
an old box–
a story untold, contents unknown
a teddy bear perhaps or well loved reading books,
tear-stained love letters from the past–does anyone remember?
this old box–will now be Mine
I can put it to use, I’ll put My treasure
inside
a cardboard box
