I don’t want your sacrifices–I want your love;

I don’t want your offerings–I want you to know Me.

Hosea 6:6 TLB

What a revolutionary statement. We work so hard, especially in a smaller church where so few do so much; and in a larger church where there are so many services. We can easily say, “I have to do this or that.” Really, the Lord doesn’t want all of our hard work and offerings. He wants our love. He wants us to know Him.

It goes back to 1 Corinthians 13. Without love, our offerings, sacrifices, gifts are meaningless.

This verse is a good reminder today that there is a preeminent task for me at the top of my queue of tasks. That is, to spend time in His word, to spend time at His feet, and to worship in Spirit and in Truth.
