Here are the songs for our midweek service.  All in all things went well.  I did, though, drop the final song after service (”Holy, Holy, Holy”).

a cardboard box–who left this here?

several markings on the side
names and places
no one knows or cares about
packing tape dangling in the wind

an old moving box–waiting to be put into the trash
laying on the side of the road
discarded, unwanted, in the way

a cardboard box–
does anyone want this box?
the contents now gone
its purpose fulfilled
do you think it can hold another load?

an old box–
a story untold, contents unknown
a teddy bear perhaps or well loved reading books,
tear-stained love letters from the past–does anyone remember?
this old box–will now be Mine
I can put it to use, I’ll put My treasure
inside

a cardboard box

Created to Be

I was created to be transformed
Created to be like You
Created to be reborn

I choose to yield to Your will

To yield to Your way

To yield to Your grace

Awake!

Awake my soul
And I will sing Your praise
And I’ll not be ashamed

Awake!

Awake my soul to sing
Praises to my Maker
Praises to my Savior

Thoughts in retrospect 3/14/08:

The technical aspects of the songs went well.  The congregation was engaged, etc.  Even the  hymn went well.  But this really strange thing happened to me while I was singing.  I fell sleepy.  Is that right?  The only way I know how to describe it is when Dorothy et al were in the field of poppies on their way to Oz and the Wicked Witch is saying, “Sleep… poppies will make you sleep.”

It was a total attack from the enemy.  I had to close my eyes often, I could hardly muster up the strength to breath and sing the notes.  It was very strange.

After service, no problem.  I was back to my normal energy level and alert state of mind.   I was so thankful I made it through!

3/9/08: UPDATE!

The Lord is our Provider! Jehovah Jireh!

Events worked in a way that Tonia was able to join the worship team. Now we’re a team (not just me and my keyboard)! It’s so much nicer! I enjoyed harmonizing on “In Christ Alone.” She will join me again for Easter as will Dave who is a baritone (perfectly complimenting my low alto voice). I imagine they will both join me as regulars. WOW!

We had a great rehearsal and dinner for Easter at the pastor’s house last night and I am so thankful to the Lord for bringing in the worshippers!
